I keep a trug of rainwater on hand for watering my orchids because they don't appreciate tap water, but my cats were drinking from the trug. As I don't know what the trug is made from I started looking for a food-safe trug and found these. They are great, slightly shallower than the standard ones from garden centres, but slightly wider so same capacity (and easier for the cats to drink from), and they feel stronger than the regular ones, especially the handles. I've twice ended up with water all over the floor when I've picked up a trug and a handle has given way, and once when one split across the base. These don't feel as though they will become brittle like that, although time will tell of course. I bought two of these, plus a lid, and one of the horse-feed type to use as a small pond/bird bath in the garden with a mini fountain (it's wide enough for the fountain not to lose water over the sides as it does with the Belfast sink one I have at the moment). I may need more, and I won't be buying them from garden centres or diy shops. Now my orchids and my cats are safe and I have the old one to use in the garden. Thank you Rainbow Trugs.
